I believe children learn through play and hands on experience.Children need guidance from peers and have a carer who will extend on their interests.
Children should take part in activities that interest them. These need to be meaningful, fun and in a secure environment.

Sharon's Family Day Care
Hi , my name is Sharon.
I have vast experience in early childhood education and hold a Bachelor of Early childhood Education.
I strive to create a safe and friendly environment for every child in care. It is important that a child’s physical and emotional needs are met by allowing children to express themselves in an appropriate manner.
I encourage this by providing adequate activities and learning experiences for the child to partake in during their time in my care. Toys and equipment are maintained and updated to help support children’s cognitive development through the different age groups.
Care is tailored to suit each child’s individual needs by taking into consideration age, allergies and disabilities. Each child is treated equal and I ensure my time and attentions is divided equally amongst children in care.
Communication with parents needs to be open, honest and friendly. Parents will be given regular feedback on their child’s daily activities and temperament.

Little Muppets Family Day Care
Hi , my name is Alyce.
I believe that every child is unique and filled with wonder and curiosity. As a childcare educator my priority is to nurture this wonder in a secure supportive environment. In order for every child to feel secure it is essential to build a trusting relationship with every individual through positive interactions. Not just only during play and activities but by being emotionally supportive and attuned to their thoughts and feelings. I believe that every child is an established capable learner and should be encouraged to explore their own thoughts, ideas and environment through creative investigation. Gaining the trust and friendship of any child is the most amazing treasure of all, as they hold our hands and share their curiosity of the world that surrounds them. Having the opportunity to share and support their journey of discovery is the biggest gift.
There are many influences in a child’s life but none more important than their parents. I believe that it is essential to build a trusting relationship between the educators and parents so we can collaborate together about different aspect of your child’s life; including their routine, interests and expectations. It is important that we acknowledge each other as valuable roles in your child’s life. By doing so we can build on the strengths of each other’s knowledge to ensure we work together to provide the best quality care for your child.
Every child has limitless capabilities; when nurtured and supported not only do children have the confidence to succeed but the ability to do so. Every child has the equal right to be nurtured and supported so they too can succeed regardless of any circumstance. Circumstances that may affect their opportunity to success can be overcome by responding to the individual needs of each child. As an educator I strive to find equitable and effective ways to ensure that all children have equal opportunities to achieve their goals and dreams. By carefully observing and documenting each child’s learning and collaborating with the child’s family, specialist services and agencies we can ensure your child’s receives the best possible support to ensure they succeed confidently at every task that may lay before them.
There are many influence’s that contribute to the person we are, cultures, languages, traditions, child rearing practices and lifestyle choices of our individual families. All these factors play their part in making us all unique individuals. I respect the diversity within these differences and believe that these differences contribute to our rich society. It is important that children acknowledge and value these differences and appreciate what makes them and others unique. To help children respect diversity I encourage families to share with us their practices, values and beliefs so we can ensure we create an environment and curriculum where each child respects themselves and others because of their diversity and treats each other equally and fairly.
Learning is ongoing for children and for ourselves. As an educator I am always seeking ways to build on my professional knowledge and reflecting on my practices. As every child learns differently, there is always a different way to teach them. The education community is forever evolving and by collaborating together I can reflect on my personal approach to education and make changes to my personal philosophy, ethics and practices to ensure I am constantly improving on the care and education I provide.

Pixie Hollow Early Learning Family Day Care
Hi, my name is Sandra.
My background is an Early Childhood Teacher with a Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood. Trained in New Zealand, I have knowledge of both the New Zealand early childhood curriculum, Te Whariki and the Australian Early child hood curriculum, The Early Years Learning Frame work. Having knowledge of these two documents I aim to provide, create and maintain a safe and secure environment that fosters children’s sense of self worth, autonomy and initiative in an understanding and respectful way. I believe children need a co-constructive learning environment that fosters their imagination, curiosity and learning, and is based on their agenda and needs. This ensures children’s rights as an individual and affirms their right to contribution. My teaching practices are based on Vygotsky’s cognitive theory, where scaffolding children’s interactions and play with their peers and providing them with positive language supports their learning and understanding of the world around them and helps them to reach the next level. The zone of proximal development or ZPD, is defined as the range of tasks that a child can perform with the help and guidance of others but cannot yet perform independently. This coincides with my belief in acknowledging and celebrating the uniqueness and individual potential of each child, and I will work to ensure that no child in my care will be discriminated against on the basis of ability, gender, age, ethnicity or religion. This builds their trust in me and provides children with positive self esteem.
As stated in the Early Years Learning frame work, cultural competence is the underlying principals of trust, respect, for diversity, equity, fairness and social justice. This being said, it is my aim to acknowledge the cultural and linguistic diversity that all children bring to the centre and I will work to ensure that all parents feel included through inviting them to share information about their culture and participate in contributing ideas to the program planning. This enables children to experience their own and other cultures and helped families build a connection to and a feeling of belonging within the centre community; communicating a partnership of shared ideals (Stonehouse, 1991).
I believe children’s play is a major contributing factor in their learning and development; it should be full of fun and laughter, excitement and discovery, and thus I will work to ensure that a child’s right to play is protected. This will ensure that children gain an understanding of how to build friendships, accept another’s point of view, negotiate the rules and roles of a game, and put forward their own ideas based on their own experiences. This is also in line with the early years Learning frame work, which states that play provides opportunities for children to learn, as they discover, create, improvise and imagine (Early Years Learning Framework, p.15)

Lilliputs Family Day Care
I believe that all children should be accepted and valued as individuals regardless of gender, ability, cultural background or family background ; I achieve this by providing a fun filled non threatening environment where the children and their families feel comfortable and accepted. This belief is based upon my personal beliefs, and the Australian early childhood Association’s code of ethics in relationships to children, “children are not discriminated against on the bases of gender, age race and religion.” Therefore I will ensure that all children are treated as individuals, I will ensure that each and every child gets equal opportunities to participate in experiences provided within the environment.
I will provide continuity of care, so the children develop confidence and security in me. I will achieve this by encouraging all children's learning and growth, equally and without bias. I will actively encourage strategies to reduce wastage and promote sustainability, by finding ways of using sustainable materials for the children to play and explore. I will provide a stimulating and challenging program, while catering to individual needs. I will expose them to diversity, motivate them through play and discovery, and constantly reaffirm there self-esteem. All children are valued for there individual strengths. This is based upon Gardner’s believes that an individual’s strengths will influence how they learn. Some people will learn best by interacting with others; others through reading, asking questions, and utilising language, while others are visual, using diagrams and drawings, and some need to learn through doing and being physically active.

Moments to Remeber Family Day Care
Hi my name is Chantelle,
Over the past 5 years I have worked with children of all ages, from babies as young as 3 months to primary school aged children in year six. I have personally chosen to start up a Family Daycare as I think children deserve to have the attention of an educator when they need it, to nurture and stimulate their development.
I believe in providing children with the highest care and with a stimulating, educational, safe, warm, nurturing and inviting environment to ensure they create their moments to remember. I aspire to create positive and respectful relationships between all children and families, as I believe it is so important to have honest, open and affective communication.
Over the years I have cared for many different children and believe each child is special and unique. They are all at different learning stages and are facing different challenges. Supporting and respecting cultural and diverse needs, languages, beliefs and values is something I strongly believe in.

Kimmy’s Family Daycare
The Philosophy for my family daycare is to provide the children in my care with a happy environment, which nurtures their individual needs and provides them with the love and care they deserve.
I will strive to provide your child with social and physical development skills through an environment that invites your child to explore and learn in the safety and security of a small group setting. Your child will receive individual attention as well as the opportunity to learn and socialise in an environment where it is ok to make mistakes. As a part of my family daycare program I will be promoting positive self esteem amongst all children, which will enhance personality, development and mental well being in a stimulation home environment.
I would love to encourage parents to be involved in the way I care for your child, this could mean offering idea’s or suggestions on what your child is interested in which would then be incorporated into my program. With regards to your child’s development or personal changes I am always available to listen and work with any concerns you may have with the care of your child.
